The Zuni people believe that animals, as well as inanimate objects and the forces of nature have a spirit force which can either help or hurt man. The Bear represents the west and has special curative powers for physical and spiritual healing. This piece, from my Animal Spirits show drew questions regarding the red arrow - this is the heartline representing how the animal takes in the energy of the world and it flows through him.
