This was one of the smallest pieces in my Animal Spirit show and one that drew a lot of the comments. Bast is probably the most famous Egyptian Goddess after Isis. She was a daughter of Ra and originally a sun goddess, though after the greeks came she became associated with the moon. Cats were sacred in Egypt and part of her importance was probably due in part to the great value placed on cats. I enjoyed creating a woman with such cat-like aspects to her.
